What is Spring Season?
Spring soccer is for children of all ages – especially the little ones! Several years ago, we chose Jamboree for our Spring season. In Jamboree, children get to play soccer in an age-specific program with small sided games built in each session. The older play a tournament season.
In Jamboree, the children learn soccer skills like kicking, dribbling, and throwing in the ball, but in a low-pressure setting. Jamboree is about exposing children to soccer, not grooming them for college scholarships. Coaches are assigned to present training sessions with a master coach that coordinates the activities. Spring session bring more skills development in group settings. It’s a different kind of game in U-5, U-6, and U-8 but the children still wear jerseys or pinnies, cleats and shin guards. This will commence on the first week of February and then extend over six weeks. A scheduled break occurs at the half so that our region will participate in the Area tournament for U8. Your calendar will show those dates.
Spring Season Travel Teams
Travel teams are formed and will be playing in various tournaments. We wish them all luck. Come out and watch them play in the OPI tournament February 22-24.
In travel season, children tryout for a spot on the team. This is not quite All-star. We have mostly the all-star players but the best is not always what coaches choose. Most are building the best team. Teams are built on the skill of the player, the social aspect of parents and players, the willingness for both the parent and player to commit to the time. The team normally plays several of the local tournament setting and some outside of Tucson. It is an excellent opportunity for your child to play on a more competitive level. Fees depend on the number of tournaments a team wants to participate.
